2016 Tempranillo

2016 Tempranillo

Tempranillo is the signature wine of Brooklyn West. Vines planted in 1993. Aged in French oak barrels for 3 years, then bottle-aged an additional year before release.

Full-bodied with bright red cherries, earthy and toffee notes. Superbly balanced. This is Spain's answer to Pinot - very versatile with food.

Vineyard Notes
Originally planted in 1993 from cuttings brought in from Spain, this Amador County vineyard sits at 1200 feet elevation atop granite infused soils and benefits from warm summer days that turn cool overnight which helps retain acidity and bright minerality in the grapes which along with the characteristic earthiness of Tempranillo yields robust and complex wines.
Winemaker Notes
The fruit was cold soaked for 3 days, then fermented in stainless steel open top tanks where it was punched down and pumped over twice daily. Aged 36 months in 30% new French oak barrels by Tonnellerie Meyrioux, Vicard and Sirugue.
